Wish I would have found this sooner. Plenty to sink your teeth into and the actual football gameplay is fun. Wish you could have the option to play special teams and defense or at least see the other plays, play out. And kudos for not being all about getting money from the player. Gotta fix the interception rate. You throw even a hair near the defense and they pick it.
I love this game it's just one problem u don't have controls over defense and u can't stop the runner so sometimes it's a automatic td for the other team and most people might agree I give it 5 stars bc of the quality but fix stuff about the defense retro bowl!!!
Won seven on the trot (close games) before the latest update, then lost five of the next seven after updating. Receiving is much harder, my players literally can't catch anymore whereas the opposition can pluck balls out of the air from way over their head with apparent ease - interceptions are way up again. Difficulty at adaptive 16. Edit, seems I was premature, once I adapted to the new style, it's not so bad and back to winning,and fun...
I have more fun playing Retro Bowl than I would if I played Madden. Some reviews say the difficulties are too easy or too hard... I think the game is perfect. The only 2 complaints I have are that the play designs are horrendous, and you can't audible as you see fit. Calling "audible" and getting a well-designed play is by the luck of the draw. Regardless... I love Retro Bowl
This is a great game with a great concept. improvements I might add, a way harder difficulty, I was able to win the Retro Bowl first year and found out how overpowered the passing game is. Also, maybe instead of automatic stiff arms we have to tap the screen while running and do it ourselves. All in all, I don't find many faults with this game, outside of making it more difficult and improvements on the AI's passing defenses. Great game!
If you played the original from the 80's, then you'll love this rendition. The game lobbies/menus are clear and easy to navigate. In-game play is easy and progressively gets harder as you go. Playing on difficulty Dynamic 16 and just had my first perfect season. Loads of fun. Improvements requests: 1. Please make post-game player/fan/coach critiques consistent with wins/losses. 2. Passing/Interceptions a problem due to AI holding or illegal blocking. Obvious penalties and very frustrating.
Totally has me playing for hours on end, unlimited is worth buying for such a small price for the developer. The game is simple yet has numerous little features, but doesn't overcomplicate things like madden does. Worthwhile to see how far the game progresses, would be cool to see future ways to control defense or atleast call blitzes or something, and punt returns. Maybe have the user be able to make plays, or modify them. Adding hurdles and down by contact would be cool. Overall great game!
